The Competition

Our only real competition is prejudice and ignorance.”  Jim Hines, H3 Founder & Managing Partner

H3 understands the growing market of eco-friendly products and terminology can be daunting. The very scope of this market has, unfortunately, led to vast misunderstanding and confusion and resulted in compostable, degradable and biodegradable materials being categorized together.

While many products on the market claim to be biodegradable, most are in fact either degradable or compostable. Today there are essentially two so-called competitors in the market for H3, the metal based compound OXO-degradable and the starch based compound PLA (Poly-lactic Acid). These products compete with ours for market share but they are not truly competitive as neither is actually biodegradable. OXO and PLA plastics will languish in landfills for centuries after H3 plastic products have safely returned to earth.

Buyer Beware! That age old advice is especially important when investigating plastic biodegradability claims. H3 has the certifications that prove our claims of biodegradability and will provide all ASTM test results and other validations upon request. While competitors make claims H3 makes promises.
